One- sided or missing transcripts

Supernormal captures conversations by tapping into your device's default microphone (input) and audio (output). If the audio bar isn't oscillating while you or others are speaking, part or all of the conversation isn't being captured.

This is usually caused by a mismatch between the device selected in your computer's Sound settings and the device selected in your meeting platform (Slack, Google Meet, Teams, etc.).

Step 1: Make Sure Your Devices Match

On Windows:

  1. Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar (lower-right menu bar).

  2. Select Sound settings.

  3. You'll see Output and Input sections. The device shown for each is your current default.

  4. If either isn't the device you want to use, select your preferred device from the dropdown.

  5. Return to your meeting platform and confirm its audio and microphone settings match what's now selected in Sound settings

On Mac:

  1. Select the Apple menu.

  2. Select System Settings.

  3. Navigate to Sound in the left sidebar.

  4. Select Input to view and set your microphone, and Output to view and set your speakers.

  5. If either isn't the device you want to use, select your preferred device from the list.

  6. Return to your meeting platform and confirm its audio and microphone settings match what's now selected in Sound settings.

Tip: Always change your default audio/microphone device from your computer's Sound settings, not from within the meeting platform itself. Most platforms automatically follow whatever is set as the system default.
