Zoom requires 3 permissions from meeting hosts for external bots to record a meeting.

  1. Permission to join as a participants (given at the start of the meeting)

  2. Enablement of local recording (enabled in Zoom settings)

  3. Permission to "record" (given once a bot is permitted to join the meeting)

See Enabling local recording for Zoom to learn how to enable.

❗️To bypass the requirement to "allow recording" on meetings you host, download the Zoom integration.

Once local recording is enabled, meeting hosts will receive the following request to record after the Supernormal bot is permitted to join as a participant:

Note: This pop-up only appears if local recording is enabled in Zoom and the host is present in the meeting.

"Recording" refers to any capture of a meeting on Zoom, not specifically video. Supernormal will only capture your meeting according to your preferences in Account Settings.

What you need to know as the meeting host:

  • You must enable local recording

  • Supernormal will ask to be admitted into your meeting

  • If you have not integrated with Zoom, Supernormal will also ask you, the meeting host, for permission to record the meeting as soon as our assistant is let into the meeting

  • You must allow both in order for us to deliver meeting notes -- this is regardless of whether Supernormal is just transcribing the meeting

Tip: Confirm that you are joining meetings with the same email under which your meeting was organized

What you need to know as a participant:

  • Supernormal will ask to be admitted into your meeting

  • Supernormal will ask the host for permission to record the meeting

  • The meeting host must allow both permissions in order for us to deliver meeting notes to you

  • It’s a good idea to let the host know that you’re trying to capture the meeting
